Show & Tell Friday

Show and Tell
Time for Show & Tell Friday again and time for me to get back to feeling good and blogging! Today I'm showing off just a few pieces (sorry the pictures are blurry!) of the antique blue and white china set my Mom purchased for me for my wedding gift. I just love these! And I have a full set, including salt and pepper shakers, plates, pitcher, butter dish, etc, etc, ,etc..so I display them everywhere! They are Currier & Ives and depict various scenes...Sometimes it's a country scene, sometimes a woman driving a carriage, sometimes a ship!

I love how the plates pop against the rustic red of my kitchen! When we eventually move, I'm going to make sure to paint my new kitchen in the same color...I adore it! Enjoy the photos and thanks for looking!

  2. My grandmother had a set similar to these and they bring back such wonderful memories. I have a plate or two in this pattern, wish I could find more, but do love the rustic, old fashioned look they have.

  5. I have those toooo. I have full sets (more than one). We grew up with those and my mom worked at the grocery store where you would get them. I have the gravy boat and saucer, the butter dish, tons of plates, several pepper and salt shakers, several sugar bowls, ..I don't have any huge platters however. The problem with old dishes is lead content--so now I only use them once in a while. They bring back childhood memories .

  10. When my husband and I were first married we purchased a very abused and abandoned mobile home. Inside one of the cute glass cupboards was a blue set of Currier and Ives cups and saucers. I held on to them for a long time before I ended up selling them in a garage sale. They ended up being one of those fantastic bargains I've been reading about on my Show and Tell Friday rounds!

  18. My grandmother also had a set like that. Whenever I go to an antique shop I come across a plate or other piece and remember her fondly.
